The University of Calgary is pleased to host the third biennial Western Canadian Studies Conference, June 20-23, 2012.

Registration is now open for the Directions West History Conference.  Conference panels begin on the morning of Thursday June 21 and continue through Saturday June 23rd. We encourage you to arrive in the afternoon of Wednesday the 20th for a complimentary reception and a pre-reception tour of either the archives or the Blackfoot Exhibit at the Glenbow Museum.

We recommend that you book your hotel reservation as soon as possible.  After May 4th, all unreserved rooms will be removed from the conference block.  Guests will still be able to book rooms at a conference rate after the release day, however room bookings will be based on availability.  Refer to the accomodations link for further information.

Conference registration includes an opening reception at the Glenbow Museum, concerts by the T. Buckley Band and the Black Pioneer Heritage Singers as well as two meals.  Extra fees are required, however, for the conference banquet and Banff tour.  A choice of free guided walking tours of historic downtown Calgary is also available following the completion of conference panels on the afternoon of Saturday June 23rd.

We are offering a guided field trip to Banff National Park on Sunday, June 24th. Stay an extra day and enjoy this opportunity to learn and relax in the Rockies.  Please refer to the Banff Park Tour link for more information.
