Dr. Elizabeth Jameson is retiring

Dr. Elizabeth Jameson will be retiring at the end of this academic year.  The department celebrated her retirement on April 24, 2017 with colleagues, family and friends.

Dr. Jameson has been at the University of Calgary since 1999 as holder of the Imperial Oil-Lincoln McKay Chair in American Studies. She earned her Ph.D. at the University of Michigan, and before coming to Calgary was on faculty at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and the University of New Mexico. She is an internationally renowned expert in women’s history, labour history, and the history of US-Canada western borderlands. She is the author or co-author of five books, and dozens of articles and book chapters. She has received numerous awards and honours, including a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Coalition for Women’s Western History, and an Honourary Life Membership in the Western History Association.

In retirement she plans to maintain her ties to the department and the university, and we look forward to her continuing contributions. Thank you Dr. Jameson for your years of dedicated service!
