Dr. Hendrik Kraay gives opening keynote address to colloquium in independence in Bahia, Brazil

Dr. Hendrik Kraay opened the colloquium, “Guerra & Identidade: A Independência no Brasil na Bahia” (War & Identity: Brazilian Independence in Bahia), with a keynote address on the early celebrations of Dois de Julho, 2 July 1823. The colloquium (3-6 July) was organized by the Centro de Memória da Bahia, a unit of the Fundação Pedro Calmon, responsible for the management Bahia’s libraries and archives. Dr. Kraay is currently on a research trip to Brazil, where he will also work in Recife, Rio de Janeiro, and Brasília. For more information on the program, click here.
