George Colpitts attends "The Great Plains: An Environmental History" Interdisciplinary workshop

George Colpitts joined scholars on May 22-24 at the University of Oklahoma as part of "The Great Plains: An Environmental History,” a National-Science-Foundation-funded, interdisciplinary workshop exploring the North American Plains from western Texas to southern Canada. The workshop sought to redefine the region by exploring how a wide range of technological adaptations, rather than disasters such as the Dust Bowl, shaped the history of this environment and the people who inhabited it. Dr. Colpitts presented a paper on accounting as technology used by the Hudson’s Bay Company at its plains posts in the 18th and 19th centuries.
