Dr. Nancy Janovicek is the 2016 winner of the Marion Dewar Prize, which is awarded bi-annually by the National Capital Committee on the Scholarship, Preservation and Dissemination of Women’s History. The award was instituted in 2004 in honor of Marion Dewar, Ottawa’s mayor from 1978 to 1985. It is given annually to Canadian historians who specialize in women’s history. It recognizes an outstanding scholar based on the strength of research, teaching and administrative work during her or his career to date. In the citation for Dr. Janovicek’s award, the committee commended her “productive research and engaging writing, as well as her strong commitment to both the feminist historical community … and the whole historical profession in Canada.” Dr. Janovicek is the 12th recipient of this award.
Congratulations, Dr. Janovicek!
