About Me

I am a full-time historian for Parks Canada.  I am based in Calgary, but work mostly with national parks and historic sites in Nunavut and the Yukon.  My background is in North American environmental and cultural history, especially the oral and written history of the Canadian Eastern Arctic.  Outside of my Parks Canada projects, I am working on a book (under contract with the University of Chicago Press) about Inuit and Americans in each other's homelands in the 19th century.  Please feel free to contact me with questions; I am also happy to talk to students considering a career in history outside of academia.
