Dissertation Title

A Shattered Army: The German Army and Politics in the Weimar Repubic, 1918-1923


Matt spent his formative years in Edmonton. He took his BA at the University of Alberta,with a major in History and a Minor in Classics. He took his MA at the University of Alberta in German History, under the delightful Dr Dennis Sweeney. He is currently working on his PhD under the supervision of Dr. Holger H. Herwig, and Dr. Alexander Hill. His major field is modern German history; his minor field, supervised by Dr. Hill, is Strategic Studies. His dissertation research will focus on the political involvement and associations of the German Army during the Weimar Republic.
