Notes: Provides an in depth overview and analysis of the evolution of Latin American-United States relations from the nineteenth century to the present. The course deals primarily with foreign policy issues but there is also substantial attention to the cultural and economic aspects of the relationship and to the role of private sector actors. The focus is on Hispanic and Portuguese America, although students are welcome to purse research topics on the English or French Caribbean. |
