An investigation fo the ways the British discovered, established sovereignty over, settled, and used portions of the Atlantic world, circa 1550-1700. Topics include comparative analysis of British and European justiciations for claiming new found lands, settlement and migration patterns, and impact upon native peoples and the landscape.
