Óscar presents his paper on Sulphur and the petrochemical industry in Poza Rica.

Dr. Amelia Kiddle organized a panel for the XV Reunión Internacional de Historiadores de México in Guadalajara, Mexico (October 17-21) on the transnational history of the Mexican oil industry. The panel included presentations by Dr. Kiddle and Dr. María Cecilia Zuleta (collaborators on the SSHRC-funded project “The Mexican Oil Expropriation of 1938 and the Roots of Resource Nationalism in Latin America), Dr. Paolo Riguzzi (both of El Colegio de México), and Óscar Torres Montúfar, who was an Emerging Leaders of the Americas scholar in the Department of History at the University of Calgary in 2018. Óscar has just accepted a position as Profesor Investigador in the Centro Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia (INAH) Veracruz.  Congratulations, Óscar!
