A New Book Co-Edited by Amelia Kiddle: La expropiación petrolera Mexicana en la prensa de Latinoamérica (The Mexican Oil Expropriation in the Latin American Press)

Drs. David Bercuson and Holger Herwig’s latest book has just been published by University of Calgary Press. Long Night of the Tankers: Hitler’s War against Caribbean Oil presents a fresh account of a lesser-known but critical component of the Atlantic naval theatre during World War II.

Congratulations to three of our MA students who have each won a SSHRC award. 

Five department members participated in panels at the 2014 meeting of the Canadian Historical Association, held May 26-28 at Brock University.

Congratulations to Dr. Paul Chastko who received a Leader in Internationalization award from the Faculty of Arts at the annual awards ceremony on May 20, 2014. Dr. Chastko has served as coordinator of the International Relations program for the past eight years. With close to 400 majors, International Relations is the largest interdisciplinary program in the Faculty of Arts. During his term as coordinator, Dr. Chastko was a tireless champion of internationalizing the curriculum and this award is a well-deserved recognition of his service.

Five History Graduate Students are awarded for their presentations at the History of Medicine Days Conference March 7-8, 2014 in the University of Calgary's Faculty of Medicine. 

Congratulations to Deanna Turner who won a PURE award in the 2014 competition. 

Will J. Pratt and Matt Bucholtz each presented papers at the recent meeting of the Society for Military History in Kansas City. 

Dr. Ken MacMillan was honoured with a 2014 University of Calgary Teaching Award on March 24, 2014, in the category of Full-Time Faculty (Full Professor). 

Dr. George Colpitts's launches new book entitled North America's Indian Trade in European Commerce and Imagination, 1580-1850.
