History Graduate Students' Union, or HGSU, is a representative association for the history graduate students at the University of Calgary. We represent and advocate for all graduate students in our department and wish to foster an inclusive and engaging community.

All students are de facto members, though it is completely up to the individual as to how much they'd like to participate in the various HGSU events and communications. Our executive council consists of graduate students who have been nominated and elected to their positions. Currently, the positions are as follows:

President - Quentin Holbert

Representatives - Stacey LeClair (MA) and TBD (PhD)

Vice-President Finance - Pedro Falk

Vice-President Academic - Sophia Traxler

Vice-President Communication - Xumeng Sun

VP-Social - Amy Rocha Larson

Secretary - Gorata Sello

We meet monthly to discuss issues affecting history graduate students and to plan our events, lectures, and conferences. Some of our recent events are board game/pizza nights and trips to local historical attractions. Each year we host the Bow River graduate student conference, Chiniki Lecture, and various colloquiums.

You can find us on facebook and twitter. Pease contact us via facebook or email hgsu@ucalgary.ca with any questions or concerns.
